Jam of the day! Heads Will Roll by Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Rosie for President

So I entered my dog in a photo contest. Pretty lame, right? Actually it's not! The contest she's in is called the National Spay Day Photo Contest of the Humane Society of the United Staes. It helps raise money and awareness about spaying and neutering your pets, which as we all know, is very important.

Want to vote for Rosie? Here's her page....

"Rosemary Wilhemina Brown"

I choose to make her entry a "fundraising entry" which means that you have to donate to vote for her. Every dollar counts as a vote and all the money she raises is going to the Volunteer for Animal Welfare, Inc. right here in Oklahoma City. So please, get out your wallets and vote for Rose!

Catching up

This past weekend was the sort of weekend that makes me wish I had some sort of  "weekend wrap-up" blog post every Monday. I realize I could start doing that, but that would sort of be stealing an idea from, ohhh let's say, every blog I read. So I won't. For now. But if I were so inclined to do such a thing, this past weekend would be a good place to start. Except I didn't take any pictures. So that makes it a little boring for you. Instead I'll keep it short and sweet.

Highlights of my weekend:
.A living room pallet/picnic with boyfriend featuring pizza from The Wedge, (500) Days of Summer, United States of Tara (I heart Toni Collette), and 2 bottles of red vino.
.Rosie finally mastering the art of sleeping in.
.Bacon and fried eggs at 2pm.
.Dinner and wine with my girlfriends.
.Boyfriend escorting me to the Friends of the Library annual book sale and carrying my books for me.
.A trip to Best Buy.
.Johnnie's. Yum.

In other news, if you are in anyway interested in music, good music that is, then you should probably be reading this blog. It's called Pretty Much Amazing, and well...that it is. You'll probably be tempted to blow your paycheck on new music, so consider yourself warned. Not that I'd know anything about that little problem...

This is what happens on Saturday afternoons when I have a few hours to spare...

It's a root beer cake and yes, it's delicious.

And now, my jam of the day: Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) by Arcade Fire. Perfection.

1. Full Circle Obedience School in OKC. Tonight's our first night of school!
2. Rock Band.
3. Buying fresh flowers for myself.
4. Parks and Recreation. HI-larious!
5. OliveGreenDog where I bought Rosie's new collar (this). They delivered quickly and even sent a personal note and a treat for Rose.

Guest post by Rosie.

Hi. My name is Rosemary Wilhelmina Brownpants.
But you can call me Rosie.

I really love Oklahoma. There's so much snow!

I give kisses to anyone who plays in the snow with me, but I won't kiss just anyone. Grandpa Dale gets extra kisses though because he's cool.

Mom says the snow turns me into a mess, but I don't mind so much.

When I play outside too long, I get really dirty.

And mom has to give me a bath.
It's not my favorite.

This is Duff. He's my best friend. Sometimes we touch tongues, and that makes me feel weird.
But not that weird.

One time mom put my hair in a ponytail.
It was so embarrassing.

Mom also takes me on car rides. She even lets me sit shotgun!

But what I really like to do is sleep...

and sleep...

and sleep.

The end.

It's still Christmas on Huntleigh.

I have something totally embarrassing to admit. But we're friends here, so I feel comfortable spilling my guts to you. As long as you promise to spill your's back.

Do you see this??

This is still up in my living room. Yes, it is still Christmas on Huntleigh.

And yes, I realize that today's date is Feburary 10. Exactly 1 month and 10 days after I should have taken this down.

But look how cute it is??

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is decorating the tree. My mom serves cookies and hot apple cidar, we listen to John Denver or Frank Sinatra's Christmas albums, and we decorate the tree together. Even though all of us are grown up, it's still something we get together and do. And her tree has become my favorite Christmas tree to look at. And I've seen alot of trees.

So for my first Christmas tree, I decided to have a decorating day with my step-brother, neice and nephew. And my grandma. And my mom, stepdad, dad, brother and sis-in-law. And boyfriend. And okay, brother and boyfriend really spent the whole time moving a bookshelf after grandma told me I had my tree in the wrong place. And step-brother and nephew were more interested in playing with Rosie and watching football than making ornaments with glitter and feathers. And we didn't have cookies, or cidar, or even John or Frank. But we had a blast anyway, and I had a completely original and homemade Christmas tree. And I love it so much, I just can't bring myself to take it down yet. Maybe I'll leave it up for the next four years in honor of my grandparents (who had theirs up for four years. True story). What do you think??

1. The Metropolitan Library System. I'm now a proud card-carrying member.
2. Dr. Nida for "fixing" the Rosqueezie.
3. For me, for you blog for leading me to this shirt from Spool No.72, which I'm now in love with too.
4. CoolGreens in Nichols Hills Plaza. Get the frozen yogurt. Orginal tart with blueberries, peaches and strawberries will rock your socks off. Seriously.
5. Seeing Wayne Coyne at a wine tasting. Yessssssssss!
